Some of them just don't add up or make sense at all!
I have had this conversation with many people, and everyone has their own views on this of course, but im gonna state some facts and by the end of this article you should all be agreeing that i should be the one in charge of all the laws in this crazy world..
I guess this first got me going when i found out we are very soon getting a 'weather spoons' pub in our local town.. i was like "yesss.. at last a new, decent, big pub!.. but no.. it's not just a 'pub'.. it's a 'bar'.. what's the difference? ..wellll.. apparently you have to be 21 to walk into a bar! But 18 for a pub is ok!
What's the difference?.. they both sell the same bloody thing don't they?? And everyone only goes to these places for 3 reasons.. alcohol.. drown your sorrows.. or meet prince(cess) charming/beautiful.. so why does the change of the name from 'pub' to 'bar' put the age limit up an extra 3 years? This isn't America.. im talking about England! I have been growing up in England and im 18 next year, just in time for this new bar that's coming and i found out im going to have to try even harder to look 3 years older then i am instead of only trying to look one year older.. gawd.. im only human!
So ok.. we have the drinking laws established.. Driving.. i can drive at 17 but not drink until im 18 or even walk into a "bar" until im 21.. but yet i can also get married bring up a family and have children at 16.. but yet.. i can't handle the responsibility of drinking until im 18.. oh and not being able to drive until im 17..
If i had kids when i was 16 wouldn't it make sense to be able to drive too?.. or maybe 16 is just a very stupid age to say "yeah girls don't worry.. you can have babies while you're still at school- no worries!.. but NO DRINKING OR DRIVING!.. just give life- you can't handle looking after yourself!-only others!"..
At 16 i can screw up my lungs with cigarettes but im not allowed to screw up my liver until im 18.. which doesn't really add up much so i don't think these 2 rules are due to health purposes..
I tell ya i don't know who came up with these ideas.. but if i was in charge.. or anyone with at least half the common sense my cat has got there would be some much better laws up today!
I don't think someone should be allowed to be given the responsibility of bringing up another life by having a baby if they aren't considered to be able to handle the responsibility for themselves in driving a ton of metal around up to 60mph in public or being able to handle themselves and knowing when to say no to alcohol.
Learn to drink at 16 and being able to have a baby at 16 too first.. then once everyone is over the thrill of being able to drink at 16 they will then be 17 and that's when they should be allowed to drive.
Being allowed to drink earlier then driving is a good idea because all that will happen is kids will be driving around and everything, then when they get to 17 they will all race out to the pubs where they have "never been" before.. and they will drink and buy as much as they can because they can! and get so wasted and then they will want to drive home.. because they can!- even if its a bit illegal.. but i bet thats what will happen in some cases.. or if it doesn't.. well.. im just saying it's a risk! .. so learn to drink first, learn how to handle yourself- learn your limits, then take on the responsibility of driving. Then you can be bored of drinking then learn to drive home safely after not drinking so much
It isn't just the UK and America that have problems.. i think lots of countries have strange ideas.. sex limits in Canada for example, the limit is 14.. 14?! and lesbians can do it at 14 but 2 males must wait until they are 18.. what in the world?.. 14 you have only just turned into a teenager.. 2 years ago they were children.. and why do the ages change depending what gender you are?.. in fact.. maybe i don't wanna know the details of those reasons..
But hey in places like Pakistan and Oman there is no age limit at all! 12 in Chile.. 13 in Korea.. i could go on.. but you already see my point.
I think maybe a sex age limit should be set for at least when someone is quite well in to puberty.. 16 is good! But come on.. 12?!..
