I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair

I heard such a great a song on the radio yesterday and it was so simple and i had never heard of the woman who sung it. However, the lyrics really stood out to me, and it was something i always said to my mum, i always wished that i could have lived back when the real hippies were about or the real punk rockers were big and be apart of the revolution, i just think i was born too late..
and then i heard this song!.. it's 'i wish i was a punk rocker (with flowers in my hair)' by Sandi Thom.
The lyrics i love so much but i think they just stand out to me because it was basically singing everything that i also thought strongly about and it was all so true. It's only one song im talking about here and i haven't done much research on this person yet, but i thought i would share that song with anyone who reads this simply because I'm now crazy about the song just for the lyrics.
My mum was saying to me that the title didn't make sense. 'I wish i was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair' doesn't make sense because punk rockers didn't have flowers in their hair, but i saw it differently straight away.. i think Sandi Thom is talking about the punk rockers and the hippies too.. but hey that's just my interpretation..

Lyric Extract:
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair
In '77 and '69 revolution was in the air
I was born too late into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair

When the head of state didn't play guitar
Not everybody drove a car
When music really mattered and when radio was king
When accountants didn't have control
And the media couldn't buy your soul
And computers were still scary and we didn't know everything..

Sandi Thom- i wish i was a punk rocker (with flowers in my hair)
