Get Behind Me Satan- The White Stripes have made a turn?



Ok maybe this article is a little late, but i have only really taken the time to listen to this album 'get behind me satan', and i actually couldn't believe it, it's like they have completely changed their style. It makes 'seven nation army' sound so ammature, probably because it is- but that's what Im saying.
This new album sounds like they have really experimented with music, and it isn't just a riff on top of a simple beat, their new music has a good sense of style about it, and for once Im actually taking a liking to The White Stripes, and perhaps maybe im feeling a little bit more respect for them too.
Maybe The White Stripes have made a turn? who knows, but if they have and this is the sort of music they are going to be experimenting with, then they have just recruited another fan :-)

This music reminds me of a better version of the scissor sisters, the scissor sisters started to bore me and I can only listen to them in small doses, but 'Get Behind Me Satan' is excellent, Jacks voice is excellent contrast to their different style of music in this album. I think those who loved The White Stripes for their quick riffs and simple drumbeats like on their previous albums probably feel a little disappointed with their 5th album, the white stripes did released 'Blue Orchid' as a single before this album came out, and it seems this song is probably what the old fans were expecting, so for them to buy this album getting the surprise that blue orchid is the only song with that old style on there.. probably shattered their high hopes, but really, the music hasn't exactly gone down hill, it's just changed, and i think the only old fans who will like this album are the ones who are open minded.

Personally i like this album a lot better then any of their other stuff, maybe with the exception of 'white blood cells' which was an album i quite liked, the drummer really used to piss me off with her stupidly simple drum beats that sounded the same in every song, i hated the fact that i could do better then her on the drums and i never even had lessons.
