iPod Mini trouble?![]() I recently had a problem with my iPod and it turns out that its not uncommon, have you been having trouble? I have had my iPod mini for a couple of months now, and it was working fine, used it everyday treated it with good care, i even started to run out of space for it and had to unselect half of my songs because i think i just have too much music now... ok i cant believe i just said that YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MUCH MUSIC!! But anyway it started acting up and i thought it was because i had too much on there and that maybe it was just filling up the hard disk on the iPod. So i took a few more songs off it and no change. What happened was when i went to play a song it started making these really strange noises jumping from each headphone then it would suddenly crash and come back on, and the battery went down dramatically every time this happened! So as you can imagin i was getting quite pissed off by now. I converted all my music to AAC files in stead of MPEG files, because AAC files are smaller, and i still thought maybe im just using up too much space on it, then it still didnt work and i thought maybe it was the AAC files itself making the iPod weird. So by now i was ready to take it back to the apple shop in London, until i found out i wasn't the only with this problem, i found countless complaints on google which was telling me about how the iPod mini isnt well made on the inside, because there are too many chips together and they don't have a protective layer on the inside to protect it as well as all the other iPods, so it can get damaged quite easily. Good information about it on this site told in quite a funny way.. (especially if you're having problems with your iPod being touch sensitive and crackling, go here!) http://www.math.unl.edu/~iloladze/iPod.htm My problems have been solved (so far) by reseting my iPod, to do this you must follow the following steps. THESE STEPS ARE FOR IPOD MINI ONLY! To reset your iPod mini follow these steps.. 1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.) 2. Press and hold the Menu and Select button until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step. If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center. If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. Hope this helped- it helped me a lot, these steps i found out from http://discussions.apple.com/ This site has lots of information with people with the same problems. Also http://forums.ipodlounge.com is a similar forum as well. | | Posted: Sun - May 29, 2005 at 12:40 AM |
