Road Trips: Tips and Info for Away Games

Panthersville, Atlanta (Georgia State University)

For one game every year, Georgia Tech makes the oh so long trek over
to Panthersville for a game against Georgia State. "Roadtrip" is in
quotations for the obvious reason. You need no introduction to the
city of Atlanta. It's basically a home game at a high school field for
us (literally -- Georgia State's baseball program utilizes a Dekalb County

High School's ballpark).

Probably the only reason you came here... Directions to Panthersville
from Georgia Tech.

I-75/85 South to I-20 East.
Take Exit 65: Candler Road
Turn right onto Candler Road.
Go past the mall and several lights.
Take a right onto Panthersville Road
Go about 1/2 mile to Clifton Springs Road
When you see the football stadium, turn into the fenced in bus parking lot.
Go to the back of the parking lot until you see the baseball field.

Below are some satellite images to give you an idea of the location and condition

of the ballpark, and here is a Google Maps link.

Tickets:
Adults: $3.00
Children: $1.00

This is another stadium where you will be right up next to the field
of play. Stadium conditions are what you might expect from a high school facility;

sadly, not all college baseball programs are as well-funded as GA Tech's is.

Visiting Panthersville is a lot like going back in time to see the humble beginnings

of GA Tech's baseball program. They have a few bleachers for seating, but nothing elaborate. Oh, and lighting quality is generally poor, so don't count on getting
good pictures once the sun starts to set.

If there is even a hint of rain or it has rained in the previous day
or two, they will most likely cancel the game or move it to Tech's
campus. The field conditions there are horrible. Don't wear nice shoes
either. The parking lot is a dust bowl and you will be walking over
bare ground. It gets muddy quite easily.

Concessions are what I would call your typical high school or little
league concessions: Hotdogs, nachos, etc. Canned cokes. Bring
your own food if you want something to eat.
