Posted at 12:58 AM Read More Sun - January 25, 2009weddings....more portraits...bereniceok, here's a quick little collage of a few
different portraits of berenice. like i mentioned before, the schedule this day
was running a little behind, so we didnt have too much time with berenice. so,
we quickly got to work. once again, some awesome, soft back-lighting really
helped out. berenice was very relaxed actually, so it was easy for her to just
"roll with it" when it came to our "directing". like i've stated before, we try
to keep it to a minimum when "posing" or setting up an image. all we do is ask
her to stand or sit in an area that we see good, great, or interesting light.
once there, and with check of our settings, we mostly just snap away, chatting
it up to distract her and keep her at ease (hopefully). i think she did great,
especially "under the gun" of the
schedule!!
as you'll notice, i tried a couple of different approaches to the "processing" of these images. i probably wouldnt use them as a set like this, but i mostly wanted to show a variety of post-processing techniques/styles...... feel free to comment on which you like more and why :) Posted at 08:37 PM Read More Thu - January 15, 2009wedding....portraits...berenicehere's a couple of amazing captures from german

so many posts that shouldve been on here since so long ago. between trying to
get the new and improved blog up (coming soon), taking a vacation to europe,
dina having surgery (she's fine now), this poor blog has almost been forgotten.
but i will not give up! instead, i'll try to blog little by little until i catch
up. so, instead of having a big long wedding post, i'll share a few cool
portraits of german from back in august. if you are a photo enthusiast, i hope
these tips might help a little next time you shoot a portrait of
someone.....
here's the scenario: its like 120 degrees, were falling behind schedule, the bride is waiting, so we only have a few minutes with german. literally, we have about 8 to 10 minutes before i had to get going. as i enter the room, i notice the great empty space with a big window and no curtain. im always looking for natural light, so this will be great. then, the blank walls give me the idea to do a few quick "studio" style portraits of him. obviously, he's a bit nervous on this day, so i just ask him to finish putting his shirt, tie and jacket on in front of this wall. as im shooting, im also trying to converse with him, joking around, just trying to make the client feel less awkward in front of the camera. i snap away until he relaxes a little, his expressions ease up with every shutter click. then, as i now only have a minute or two, i stop, look around and try to think of a few different compositions with the same space/subject. thats when i tried back-lighting him against the window for a little more of a dramatic effect. then, i backed away and tried to capture the mood of the space. and thats when i captured my favorite image of him. the last photo in this series reminds me of the "calm before the storm". ok, i hope all that info might help someone out there take nicer photos :) Posted at 12:33 AM Read More Mon - January 5, 2009getting married?were getting ready for an exciting upcoming

weddings in three weeks. the medina wedding was the first of the four. it was
hot, it was fun, it was full of looooooooooove. thats the way we like it :)

german+berenice's wedding and we are soooooooooo tired. but of course, i'm
paranoid and i cant go to sleep no matter how tired until i've downloaded all
the cards, backed them up and done a look over all the pics.....here's a few
