dina....too distracted :)

i found this photo of dina from our trip to puerto vallarta last summer and it made me laugh. it was right after we arrived at the Westin, and instead of looking at me as I was trying to capture her attention, dina was too busy flipping through a local mag trying to figure out what she wanted to do while we were there. i was ignored, but i loved it :)

coto de caza???

out here in sunny southern california, there's a community in orange county called "coto de caza". it is one of the wealthiest zip codes in the country and even kobe bryant lived there for awhile. well, while we were visiting spain, and staying at david & maribel's house near valencia, they invited us to a family get together at one of their aunt's country cabin. where was this cabin at? you guessed it.......coto de caza, spain :)

valencia

david and maribel took us to valencia, which was about 30 miles from their home. we were all quite tired that day, so we just decided to spend a few hours walking around and just sight-seeing. valencia is much smaller than barcelona or madrid but it still feels very metropolitan in its own unique way....

magic mountain crazyness

we went to magic mountain the other day and had a great time getting super-dizzy on all the crazy rides. i felt very old when my head wouldnt stop spinning after getting off the rides! i took our little point-n-shoot camera on the rides and was able to capture some funny video clips with it, check them out here.

hello albaraccin

our friends david and maribel were our vip tour guides while we stayed at their place. on our first full day there, they didnt let us sleep in late and had us take a cool drive out to another spectacular little medieval city up in the mountains. the city is called albaraccin. it was really cold up there and there was a very very sleepy feeling to this little town. we had a great time and once again.....highly recommend visiting this town if you are near valencia.....

pueblo espanol

i wish i would have shot more photos in a "panaramic" style. actually, you shoot a bunch of images and then photoshop "stitches" them together. the end result can be great if done correctly. here's the main plaza of pueblo espanol, where we ate that yummy food i posted about a couple days ago. i dont remember the name of the restaurant, but its on the far right side of the photo.

to see the full size version of the photo, click here.

p.s. this photo does not have any major retouching applied, its "straight out of the camera" from my canon 5d. i added just a little sharpening and saturation for the web.

monserrat

monserrat is a great one-day trip from barcelona. the mountains all around have a weird, distinguishable shape. there's not a whole lot to do once you reach the famous monastery at the top of the mountain, but just sitting up there and enjoying the breath-taking view was good enough for us.

here's a few pics....

Barcelona_Day 3 .

antonio gaudi is a genius. barcelona was his playground

if you dont know who he was, do yourself a favor and do a google search on his name. you'll find a bunch of sites dedicated to houses, churches, buildings, furniture, etc., that were designed by him. we spent most of the day today admiring a few of his beautiful creatinons here in the city of barcelona. from the batllo house, to sagrada familia, to park guell. i wish we werent running around as much and just spent half day at any of these places. but we are here for just a few days, so we crammed in as much as possible! here are a few pics....
