SHAMOOOOOOOOO

About 3 weekends ago, Dina's company picnic was held at SeaWorld . That's great......except for the fact that it was raining the entire week before. But we decided to be a little crazy and we drove out to San Diego and wondered if we'd get some nice weather down there. Well, we did, sort of. The morning was beautiful, but the clouds started rolling in about 2pm. By 5 o'clock it was raining and we were all trying our best not to get soaked! All in all, we had a fun adventure, we saw a bunch of cool animals and the best part was that we somehow avoided getting totally sick! Here are a few photos I took with my new point-n-shoot camera that I'll post about soon......

...a little something different...

Wives, I've learned in the last 1-1/2 years of being married, like to; better said, love to....change this, change that, cut this, color that, spend this, return that.....it goes on and on... :-) But hey, that's why we love 'em! I'll let the photos speak for themselves....

It's been kind of cold around here.....

As I was driving to the store on Friday evening, I had to pull over and shoot a few snap-shots using my new point-n-shoot camera (which I looove and I'll be posting about soon).....the past two weeks have been full of cold winds, rain & threatening clouds, but the cold weather has provided some beautiful scenery here too.....check out the sunset and the mountains! I took the photos while standing in the same location, with the camera on automatic, the photo of the sky was facing south and exposing for the sky and the mountains are facing north......these two shots are almost directly from the camera, all i did was adjust contrast and darkened the sky above the mountains a little bit.....

LOOK WHAT I FOUND....

While looking through some old files I found this pic of DIna, about 1 year before we got married. I think we were at a bbq at her parents place and I was using the on-camera flash on a D70. I guess it doesnt matter what camera or flash I use, she's still sooo puuuuuuurdyyyyy : )

Winter Blues....

Last weekend we drove up to Mt. Baldy to check out the snow. Yup, it was freezing. But we ate some good hamburgers at some little cabin restaurant up there. I didnt snap too many photos, but here's a cool shot of the sky as we were heading down the mountain....

BLACK FRIDAY

Dina and I were passing by Best Buy today and for a second, we thought they might be open because of the amount of cars in the parking lot. We went in for a closer look and realized the cars belonged to all the people that were camping out for the great deals the following day. I'm not sure if the deals are that great, but I guess these people do! Anyways, Dina took a cool photo of them with her iphone....

The "best husband" award goes to.....

Me! Who else?! This is my blog, so I give myself the award...:)

Well, you might recall my 1-yr anniversary gifts (emphasis on the "s") to my lovely wife Dina. You can read a little more here. Actually, I dont think I blogged about her 2nd gift. I decided to surprise her with a cool, one-of-a-kind, hand-made, hand-painted, leather purse. Ok, ok, it didnt cost me thousands, but it is a very unique leather "work of art" that makes every other female she bumps into ask "where did you buy that purse?". Seriously. I read an article in bello magazine about Armando Murillo, the artisan who makes them and has sold to lots of famous hollywood peeps (johnny knoxville, j-lo, jessica simpson, etc.). The article had lots of photos of the different styles, colors, and sizes. I instantly knew Dina would love one, so I snuck off to Olvera Street one day and took a guess and chose one I thought she might like the most (fyi, i chose wrong:) but she exchanged it).

But the reason I'm blogging all this is to give Armando Murillo some props for being not only a very nice and funny guy, but for creating such beautiful pieces of work. His prices are very very reasonable, you'll find something you like between $150-$250. I asked him why he didnt have a website and he said he just doesnt want to get overwhelmed with work(?), so he just sells at his little storefront. So, girls, if you're ever in the Olvera street area, go look around for MURILLO LEATHER and buy yourself an awesome purse that will make all your girlfriends envious! Or if you are a guy, trust me, the wives & girlfriends will looooove these things!

Oh, almost forgot,....if you are down there at Olvera street, make sure you find Armando's store, there are a bunch of other wannabe leather stores there that sell cheap stuff from tijuana who will NOT tell you where his store is at! His store is unit "W-6" The only way to reach him is by phone 213.309.2255.

Why the smile, Dina?

Wives are funny. I'm gonna tell you a little story that explains the previous statement.

About a month ago, Apple announced that they were cutting the Iphone prices by $200. Although I've been wanting one, I had decided I'd wait until I could justify spending a few hundred bucks on another phone (i have a fully functioning smart phone already). I mentioned the price-cut news to Dina and also how "proud" I was of myself for not having rushed to buy it.

Of course, Dina not really listening to me, said, "Oh cool, I want an Iphone".

"I'll never buy you an Iphone, you'll drop it again and again like you've dropped your last phone", I said.

"But my phone is old", she responded, eventhough it was only 1-1/2 yrs old. We left it at that.

Well, the next day, Dina calls me on her way home from work and serious-as-a-heart attack tells me, "This morning I accidentally dropped my phone again and all the buttons fell off. Nothing works on this thing."

"What? How did you call me if nothing works?"

"Uhhh, I just pushed them and thankfully you were my last call and it redialed", she said.

I changed the subject cause I knew where she was going with this. Throughout the day I kept thinking of the 4-gig Iphone and it's reduced price. Finally, I decided I'd take advantage and buy it, thus making my pretty little wife really happy with a cool surprise gift. Needless to say, she was very very happy when I gave it to her.......but why did I say that "wives are funny"?. Well, when she arrived home and I asked her to let me take a look at her old phone, yup, you guessed it....barely a little damage and her buttons seemed to work great when I tried using that phone. Like I said, "wives are funny". But that's why we love'em!

Mana....Staples Center.....This Friday!

Anybody interested in some great Mana floor seats for their concert this Friday at Staples? You can see the $99+$13 ticketmaster fees that I spent on each of them.....but if anybody is interested, you can have them for $75 each. The only bummer is that the seats arent right next to each other, but they are on the floor and very close to the stage. Make me a good offer and I'll think about it! Dina had an idea for someone to trade us dinner for the tix......hmmmmm, sounds kinda interesting.....

We have our own tix for the show, these were spare seats for a couple people who said they'd go but decided not to and now I'm stuck with them.....

If anybody is interested, please call or email me asap!

Dina!

I've been doing lots of "testing" with off-camera flash lately. I decided to try using one of my Nikon flash as a strobe to give some really nice, soft side light. Working on these pictures reminded me that I have the prettiest wifey around! It was late, and Dina kept yawning (and I kept telling her to stop yawning!) but she looks great, dont you think?
