General Merchandise Pricing

PriceUpdater™ handles wholesale-to-retail pricing of general merchandise, not just broadloom.

If your retail business deals in general merchandise, the Merchandise department in the Generic interface may be the only part of the program you need. Uses include furniture, tile, hardwood, housewares, parts, sundries, computers, cars, appliances — you name it.

What to Do	What You See on the Screen
Let's play with the sample prices that come with PriceUpdater, just to get a feel for the program. Under the PriceUpdater Menu, choose Test Drive PriceUpdater. If you already have data in your pricing file, the program will give you the opportunity to Backup (in other words, keep it) so you can Restore it later. Next choose Generic to import sample data to play along with as you read these instructions.
On the main screen, click in the box where the word Merchandise appears and supply a new name. Let's call it Miscellaneous. Type the new name into the box and hit Enter on the keyboard. When you do so, all screens and printouts for the Merchandise module adopt the new title, Miscellaneous.
	This feature allows you to title your printed lists as appropriate, for example, when you want a printed list of only a selection of your records.
Click on Merchandise.
This brings up the retail pricing screen, which shows a few items that the program has provided as examples. Notice the abbreviations running down the left edge of the screen. (Click to view full screen.) Let's click on Hdw, which stands for hardwood.
Hardwood (Hdw) items come forward, and the list is sorted by Product Name. Now click the Show All button to return the complete list of merchandise to the screen.
	The Show All button appears on almost every screen in PriceUpdater. It finds and displays all items that belong to the product line you are viewing.
All of the sample items return to the screen. Now let's find all items that have been entered as Tile.
Scrolling down in the list we see some items designated as tile. Click on Tile as shown.
PriceUpdater finds all Tile items in the sample price list. There are only two.
Again let's click the Show All button to display all general merchandise items.
This returns us to the listing of all general merchandise.

Simply describe each item with an abbreviation — such as Tile, Hdw, Furn — and you can easily isolate and sort your items just by clicking on the abbreviation.
