Towards Trinity * Looking * 857 x 594 * (550KB)

Bald Hills Trail * Bald Hills Road as it winds its way through the golden hillsides of Redwood National Park * 1193 x 799 * (963KB)

Lady Bird Tree * Here we see a Redwood growing along the side of the trail that winds its way through one of the most magnificent forest groves in the world, the Lady Bird Johnson Grove, in Redwood National Park * 1179 x 1693 * (1.72MB)

Lady Bird Grove * Lady Bird Johnson Grove rests near the top of a ridge, more than 1,000 feet from sea level. The moist conditions and the extra rain brought by the elevation causes the redwoods in this grove to look less red than trees of that sort found elsewhere on the Northcoast * 1594 x 1137 * (1.42MB)

Lady Bird Foilage * What makes Lady Bird Johnson Grove so beautiful is not merely the trees, which are magnificent enough, but the thick greenery that surrounds the trees, as seen here * 1723 x 1155 * (1.67MB)

Tallest Tree * It may not look like much from the ground, but this

Tall Trees * Row of towering redwoods from Tall Trees Grove. This row constitutes one of nature's most spectacular skylines * 1196 x 1740 * (1.7MB)

Redwood Creek * Redwood creek, which flows its fish rich, otter infested waters right through the heart of Redwood National Park, is shown here. Further up this stream one will find the Tall Trees Grove, home to the world's tallest trees. * 1730 x 1181 * (1.54MB)

Dolasen Barn * On Dolason Prairie, toward the eastern side of Redwood National Park, is this picaresque barn * 1494 x 868 * (793KB)

Dolason Trail * Dolason Prairie trail is the scenic route to the tall trees. The seventeen mile round trek also involves descending over 2,000 feet of elevation to get to the Tall Trees Grove then turning around and climbing the 2,000 plus feet to get back out. I accomplished the round trip hike in a brutal six hours * 595 x 853 * (545KB)

Comment: Here we find part of the "outside" loop of the Lady Bird Johnson trail, where the redwoods aren't quite so humongous and must share space without other types of trees
