Patrick's Point Trees * These trees are not redwoods, but some sort of fir or pine. If they look a bit straggly, it's because of the fierce ocean winds they must face during the long, rainy Northcoast winters. * 599 x 820 * (390KB)

Calm Seas * This photo, taken along the immediate shoreline of Patrick's Point, displays a sea of surprising tranquility, with hardly any large swells or surf in sight. In the summer, the Pacific Ocean along the Northcoast can assume a surprisingly tranquil surface, as seen here. Ceremonial Rock View * Ceremonial Rock, which rises from the center of Patrick's Point State Park, oversees an expansive meadow from its 100 or so feet in elevation, as seen here in this photo taken from the rock's summit. * 984 x 600 * (374KB)

Mussel Rock Beach * Rocky shoreline along Northcoast. The ocean along here has for a long time been regarded as some of the more treacherous waters along the U.S. seaboard. At night or in a fog visibility is minimal, and rocky shoreline, with seastacks sticking up out of the ocean all along the coast, pose imminent danger to sea going vessels. * 884 x 574 * (101KB)
