Cars could be next target of computer viruses

According to a report of the IBM Security Intelligence Services, computer security threats could very likely spread to mobile phones, hand-held computers, wireless networks and even basic automobile functions.

"It's difficult to say whether we are moving to a steady state," Stuart McIrvine, director of IBM's security strategy, said in an interview. "The threats are increasing, but consumers and businesses are getting a lot smarter." The average car runs 20 computer processors and 60 MB of software code—all of it ripe for viruses and other forms of malware.

We all should pray and hope that no form of Windows is running in our cars, because then we really are in deep trouble.
