In the Interest of Full Disclosure

It's no secret that I've been a big fan of Insider Software's FontAgent Pro for a while now. And for the past year I've had a great relationship with the folks at Insider both as a consultant and as a reseller of their software through MacDoctors.

In the past few months I found that it was harder and harder to split my time between MacDoctors and Insider Software. I knew that sooner or later I'd have to make a decision about what I was going to do when I grew up.

Finally that decision was upon me when Insider Software offered me a full time job. After a lot of thought and consultation with my wife and partners at MacDoctors, I decided to accept and am now working for Insider Software full time. My new title at Insider Software is Director of Product Management & Services and my responsibilities now include (among other things) software QA and product management.

As for MacDoctors... I will miss the folks there. The last five years have been a lot of fun. And my partners Larry and Dan helped me get to where I am now. I hope to be available to them as a consultant if they need me and a friend regardless. We're still all in the same town, so I imagine we'll be seeing each other around.

The next question is... "What about Font Geek?" I've thought long and hard about this. Even though I'm no longer nonpartisan with regard to font management software, I have decided to continue Font Geek. Extensis and Alsoft have never taken me up on my offers to review beta software, so I don't think I'll be missing anything. I have other fellow font geeks, who don't use FontAgent Pro, who will make sure that articles about competing products are considered and published when appropriate. And there are still a lot of problems that will need to be discussed and cool utilities that will need to be reviewed so that our readers have the tools they need to handle their font problems.

So even though things have changed for me, my plan is to continue to make Font Geek a valuable resources for anyone who needs it -- regardless of which font management solution they use. And I want to encourage users of Suitcase, Font Reserve, MasterJuggler, and Font Book to contact me with articles and/or article ideas.

Thank you for being such a great readership. Your support as well as your criticism have meant a lot to me. All my best!
