My name is Benjamin Levisay and I'm a self-proclaimed Font Geek...
For years my friends, family, and partners have been telling me as such -- but I've lived in denial. Surely the rest of the world is as interested in type, glyphs, hinting, and kerning information as I am. How could they not be? Recently I've started the long hard process of accepting that I was different. And that denial wouldn't help me deal with my font related issues.
Sociologists and physiologists disagree on what causes someone to turn out the way I am. I'm sure that it wasn't my parents' fault, although I do wonder on occasion if they ever feel partially responsible for access to concepts like Bezier curves when I was at an impressionable age. Regardless of how it happened... I want to let you know... Mom, Dad, It's not your fault that my head is so easily turned by a good looking semi-serif.
So here I am... 30 something years old, working through a love/hate relationship with several instances of Myriad MM; and I realized that for better or worse -- this is who I am. There's no need to be ashamed. |
