| Classic Applications Show Jagged Fonts | | Date Created: 09 Oct, 2004, 06:12 PM |
As people move from computer to computer and OS 9 to OS X, they copy data, change hardware, and perform new software installations, lots of things can happen to their OS(s).
One of the most common complaints that I have heard is that programs like QuarkXPress 4.x and QuarkXPress 5.x, being run through Classic mode, show "jagged" fonts on-screen. Although this can be caused by permission issues, it is usually much simpler than that. An easy way to test the cause for the problem is to actually print the document to a postscript printer. If you find that the document prints OK, then this is only a screen rendering problem.
Jagged fonts onscreen and smooth fonts in the print out is not a permission issue. And it's not a QuarkXPress problem. It's not even really a Mac OS problem. The nature of the problem is that in the process of upgrading and/or transferring data, you missed a piece. |
The piece that you need is the ATM lite control panel. This is the piece that lets QuarkXPress do a good job of rendering your Classic fonts on-screen. You can download the installer for the ATM lite control panel from the Adobe website.
Please refer to the ATM & Classic Mode article for download and installation instructions. |
