| InDesign - Fonts Turn to Courier | | Date Created: 09 Oct, 2004, 04:51 PM |

| One of the most common complaints that I hear from my customers who use InDesign (version 2.x or version CS) is that their fonts go to Courier when they print their documents. Although this can happen due to font corruption or from incorrect printer description information, the most common reason that I have found is one of the easiest to fix. |
Follow these steps...
1. Launch InDesign CS or InDesign 2.x.
2. Open your document(s).
3. Select the Print option from under the File Menu.
The Print dialog box will appear. |

|
4. Choose the Graphics section on the left side of the Print dialog box.
5. Click on the pop-up menu in the Font section of this screen and choose the Complete menu option. This choice instructs InDesign to download your fonts to the printer when you print your InDesign document.
6. Print your document to see if this fixes your problem. |
| If this process doesn't fix your problem then you will need to do some more testing and troubleshooting. |
| Recently I have had fewer instances of this complaint than I have had in the past. I think that "None" was the default setting in InDesign 2.x. I don't know that it the same in InDesign CS. Certainly I have helped my clients install InDesign CS and print without incident without changing this setting. So perhaps this problem is mostly behind us. |
