New Sets AppleScript for Font Reserve
submitted by Scott Stoel
One of the annoying things about Extensis Font Reserve (my version is 3.1.1) is that when I create a new set, the program creates a new set with the default name "Untitled." So then I have to scroll down to where "Untitled" is in my endless list of fonts, rename it, then scroll back to where the new title is alphabetically. |
So I put together an AppleScript that opens a dialog box, asks you the name of your new set, then creates the new set, with the name you selected. It may not be much, but it saves me a lot of time. (Note: This script is offered AS IS. Please refer to the accompanying Disclaimer file prior to installing and using my script.)
System requirements: You must be running Extensis Font Reserve 3.1.x and Mac OS 10.2.x at least for this script to work. |
| 3. The best way to access this AppleScript if from the Script Menu. If you haven't installed the Script Menu, then proceed to step 4. If you have, please proceed to step 6. |
 |
4. To install the Script Menu open the AppleScript folder in the Applications folder on your hard drive and double-click the Install Script Menu application (hard drive / Applications / AppleScript / Install Script Menu)
5. A black script icon will appear on the top of your screen about 1/4 from the right. |

|
6. Click on the script and choose the Open Scripts Menu menu option (which is the first menu option under the Script Menu).
7. The Scripts folder will open up. Create a new folder (Command + Shift + N) and name it something that makes sense like "Font Reserve" (where you can put this and more/future Font Reserve AppleScripts as you acquire them). |

|
8. Copy the newly downloaded AppleScript "New Font Reserve Set.scpt" into the new Font Reserve folder in the Scripts folder.
9. Launch the Font Reserve Browser application. |

|
10. Select the "New Font Reserve Set.scpt" from the Font Reserve sub-menu option under the Script menu.
11. A dialog box will appear. Name your New Set and click on the OK button. |

|
Your newly named set should appear in the Sets panel of Font Reserve. From now on you can choose your new New Font Reserve Set AppleScript (under the Scripts Menu) to add sets to your Font Reserve.
You might already know of another way to do this, but this is something that has worked well for me. |
