ATM and Classic Mode

ATM (Adobe Type Manager) lite from Adobe Systems, Inc. needs to be used in the Classic System Folder's Control Panels folder so that fonts will display correctly on-screen.

To download and install the most recent version of the ATM lite control panel follow these instructions...

1. Download ATM lite (v. 4.6.2) through the registration page. Fill out the information and click on the Register button at the bottom of the screen. This will download the installer to your desktop.

2. If you don't have Classic mode start it now from the System Preferences.

3. Run the ATM lite installer.

4. If you are using the AdobePS 8.8 print driver in the Classic Chooser (found in the Classic Apple Menu Items) you will need to update your ATM lite control panel to version 4.6.2a.

If you aren't using AdobePS 8.8 then skip to step # 7.

5. Download the ATM lite 4.6.2a updater to your desktop.

6. Run the ATM lite 4.6.2a updater.

7. Restart Classic mode.

Note: If you are Using ATM Deluxe as your Classic mode font management solution, you do NOT need to do any of this -- as long as your ATM Deluxe is also updated to the most recent version. If you need to update your ATM Deluxe to the most recent version you will need your serial number before you install your newly downloaded update. You can find these updates on the ATM Deluxe Update page on Adobe's website.

You should consider replacing separate font management applications (one for Classic and one for OS X) with an OS X font management program that will handle fonts in both. Please refer to the Font Management section of Font Geek for more information about such software solutions.

Please also refer to the Font Management section of Font Geek for more information about using ATM Deluxe in OS 9 as well as a resource for diagnosing fonts.
