Dorothy was born August 3, 1930, in Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan, daughter of Ted Jahn and May Rooney. In 1939 she moved with her parents to Prairie River, Saskatchewan. She took a hair dressing course in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She worked eight years in Winnipeg, then moved to Vancouver, British Columbia.

On September 3, 1955, in Vancouver, she married Donald Smith Law, born December 28, 1930, in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, son of William Law and Ellen Smith. Dorothy and Don live in Victoria, British Columbia, where Don worked for the British Columbia Telephone Company before his retirement.

They have four children:

1. Ellen Mae, born June 15, 1956, in Vancouver. Married July 5, 1980, in Victoria, to Trevor Ernest Price. born February 21, 1956.

   1. Kristin Rianne Price, born August 31, 1985.

2. Barbara Ruth, born September 7, 1957, in Vancouver. Married William Bruce Tucker on June 4, 1984, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Married Bruce William Wannamaker in Victoria on April 11, 1992.

   1. Nicole Erin Wannamaker, born February 22, 1990, in Victoria.

   2. Robyn Ashley Wannamaker, born April 17, 1993, in Victoria.

3. Gary Donald, born March 8, 1959, in Vancouver. Married Patricia Jane Barnes on May 8, 1982, in Victoria. Married on October 3, 1992, in Victoria to Margaret Susan Forbes, born July 10, 1958.

   1. Jennifer Aimee Law, born July 24, 1993, in Victoria.

   2. Andrew Gary Law, born September 30, 1995, in Victoria.

4. David Edward, born February 3, 1961, in Vancouver. Married May 4, 1985, in Victoria to Shelley Maureen Game, born June 3, 1963.

   1. Megan Courtney Law, born June 20, 1989, in Victoria.

   2. Kelsey David Law, born July 21, 1994, in Victoria.
