Andre Norton Dies at 93


As noted by Jeff Grubb, Andre Norton has passed on.

When I first entered Junior High school and found a fully stocked library with a thick row of science fiction and fantasy, Andre Norton became a constant companion of mine for some time. Had I been able to tell anyone with any interest in the topic (I had yet to make my close friends in 7th grade), I would have said that she equaled Larry Niven as "my favorite author" during that period of my life.

Quag Keep, Sargasso of Space, The Time Traders, Witch World--these and other books she wrote enthralled me, and I can't think back to my youth without thinking fondly of Andre Norton.
