Nighty-Night, New Horizons
The New Horizons spacecraft will fall asleep even
as it continues hurtling toward the edge of our solar system. Even though most
of its systems will be shut down, its velocity will remain unchanged and it will
enjoy a slow 5-revolutions-per-minute spin. The craft will hibernate for 75% of
the next eight years on its way to Pluto.
That is so cool. It really fires my imagination.
