Animal Pictures

First, we have the first photo of a 26 foot long giant squid:

As reported by Washington Post, this photo released by Dr. Tsunemi Kubodera of the National Science Museum reveals an 8-meter (26-foot)-long Architeuthis as it attacks prey hung by a white rope at 900 meters (over a 1/2 mile) deep off the coast of Japan's Bonin islands. The next photo is a little less scary--this is Joe:

Joe has been a foster cat in our home for the last few months. Joe is a mixed breed cat incorporating siamese and lynx point. His blue eyes remind me of looking down on the clouds of some distant storm-tossed moon. Joe is returning today to the Humane Society for Seattle/King County now that space has opened, and will reside in the Library Cat Family Room (a large cat dorm decorated as if a library, which houses six or seven particularlly social cats) until someone comes by to offer him a home. If you've been thinking you'd like a pet, head by the Library to visit him.
