David Brin Thinks I'm Too Negative

David Brin (as well as an actual close friend) thinks I've been too negative on my web page:

"Even liberals, who used to fizz with can-do enthusiasm, can only oppose now, projecting surly, sourpuss negativity. Yes, the thing they oppose is monstrous - a version of antimodernism that would shove us back toward feudalism. But while opposing this reactionary madness, are liberals offering anything that remotely resembles a positive, assertive and joyful - even (yes) - entertaining - plan? One that keeps faith with the problem-solving spirit of George Marshall and Vannevar Bush and Martin Luther King? One that is for something, beyond simply opposing what is monstrous?"

Ok, Mr. Brin wasn't talking about me specifically, but liberals, progressives, centrists, and independents in general. Of course, we've had recent (as well as ongoing) reasons to wonder at our government's ability to do right by the people who elected it.

So, I'll try to continue forward in hopes of pointing out good things more often than how we're being rooked (note I said try--sometimes obscenities must be pointed to be eradicated). Progressives and centrists and independents have to build a foundation on which to attach their agenda, as the far-right has so successfully accomplished over that last 30 years.
