Recycling Nonbiodegradable Packing Material

Upon receiving an order from a company I expected would use biodegradable packing chips (but which did not), I emailed them to ask why. They responded with information I can use every time I get a package filled with styrofoam and/or packing peanuts going forward.

Styrofoam Insulation
The insulation used in our packaging is called Expanded Polystyrene (EPS).  For information on locating recycling centers that accept this material, consult the online collection site map, http://www.epspackaging.org/info.html (when contacting your local collection site, be sure to verify that they accept EPS).

Packing Peanuts
To find the nearest drop-off location for loose fill in your area, call the 24-hour Peanut Hotline, 800-828-2214.

And, you can always reuse this material yourself if you're the kind of person who sells on eBay a lot, of course. But then you already know this :-).
