April Theme: Aviation
This month your Roundtable staff has a real treat for you. We have selected Aviation merit badge as the focus for this month and, hopefully, it will inspire you to take the information back to your units and get your boys interested in pursuing the acquisition of the badge.
Mr. Chris Collins will be our featured guest for the evening. Chris used to be Scoutmaster of Troop 7 on Anna Maria and taught aviation and flight instruction at Manatee Community College. He will be giving a brief introduction to the badge and will provide information to assist you in learning the basics of flight.
"Ground control to Major Tom..." Pilots be prepared to construct and fly your own FPG-9! There will be a contest and prizes awarded.
Bonus... If you arrive early, you may hear a rather loud buzzing noise. It isn't mosquitoes. We have contacted the owners of a new hobby shop: HOBBY MARKETPLACE, located at 5129 A 53rd Ave. East and asked the owner if someone could come to our meeting place between 6:30 and 7:00 to demonstrate RC planes. Come on over to the playing field south of the parking lot to watch and get some information.
