Accessible through the Downloads section of this newsletter is a beautiful and educational publication entitled, "A Guide to Plants in Camp Flying Eagle 2006". The document was created by Bruce Holst, manager of collections at Selby Botanical Gardens, and his son, Ian. Ian and his father are members of Pack 70, Den 3 in Two Rivers District. As Mr. Holst relates in the Introduction to the guide:
This version (2006) of the Guide to the Plants of Camp Flying Eagle
contains 56 pictures of nearly all trees, shrubs, ground ferns, and epiphytes
that are found at the Camp. We hope to include the numerous herbs and vines in a
future edition. A list of all plants, 110 to date, is also included. We began making
the plant list during a 2004 cub-parent overnighter, and have continued adding to
it during each visit. There are more plants to be found at Camp Flying Eagle, and
we would appreciate knowing if you find anything not included here. Please con-
tact Bruce Holst (bholst@selby.org, Marie Selby Botanical Gardens,
Sarasota) with your findings, or for more information about this project.
Mr. Holst has graciously allowed us to post this guide through the Rambler. It contains 13 pages, many of which have full-color photographs. The document was created using Adobe PageMaker 7 and then distilled to Adobe Acrobat version 7.0.5. The size of the file is 1.1 MB.
