MAKE SURE YOU ARE
PROTECTED!
If your unit is planning a Scouting activity be sure to obtain an approved tour permit. If you do not secure an approved tour permit the accident and liability insurance that the Southwest Florida Council provides will not be in effect. Your approved tour permit verifies you are participating in a Scouting activity. If you are attending a Council or District event as a unit, you must file a tour permit.
Please complete all the information requested. We frequently receive tour permits with no date, location or tour leader, assistant tour leader or committee member signatures. If you are attending Camp Miles or Camp Flying Eagle your tour permit must be approved two weeks prior to your event. This allows the Camp Rangers to prepare the campsites for your arrival. Your campsite will be assigned by the Camp Ranger or Campmaster upon your arrival. Be sure to bring your approved tour permit with you to your activity.
Both the tour leader and the assistant tour leader must be current with youth protection. Your youth protection is valid for two years. You can take Youth Protection Training online at the council website at www.swflcouncilbsa.org. You will receive a youth protection trained card on your e-mail. This is your card. Laminate it, protect it, and keep it with you.
PLANNING NEXT YEAR’S ACTIVITIES!
When making a flyer for an activity be sure everything on this Flyer Checklist is included on the flyer. Another important thing to do is to review the BSA Brand Identity Guide. Lastly, make sure the Flyer has an official logo on it. To down load an official BSA, Cub Scout, Boy Scout, or Venturer logo click here.
