Built by Lyman R. Lyon Esq. of LF is the largest in the State. His farm has 800 acres of cleared land and he has a dairy of 90- cows.
Barn is 221 ft. long by 48 ft. broad. Sets on a wall 20 ft. high which contains 1,000 yds of masonry. The driveway is 30 ft. above the bottom & 21 wagons can be unloaded at once from the barn floor. The mows on either side of the drive have capacity for holding 650 tons of hay before you get above level of the barn floor and is proposed to have machinery driven by water power for catching up whole load and dumping it into the bays at once.
The stable in the basement will hold 200 head of cattle and near by is an immence muck bed where any amount of material may be readily had for mingling with the manure or using in the stable to absorb the liquid manure.
There are 13 ventilators running from the stable to the top of the building, the highest of which is to the peak is 80 ft.
In the basement it is proposed to have a root cellar & machinery for doing all the work of threshing, cutting roots and feeding carried by water power, which is convenlently nearby. The barn cost in the neighborhood of $12,000 and when completed as to machinery etc. will probably be the most interesting structure in the State.
