Seven years after the founding of Lyonsdale by Caleb Lyons Sr. in 1819 twelve men and women met at the home of George Pinney in Lyonsdale and organized the little church which became Forest Church of Lyons Falls. About 1840 Rev. Thomas Brainerd pastor of the Pine Street Church in Philadelphia aided the group in gathering a sufficient sum to erect a convenient and attractive church costing about $2500.00 Lyman Lyon pledged himself to meet any deficiency in funds in order that the project might proceed without delay. A Gothic style church was erected at the junction of Moose and Black Rivers on Laura St. Mr Lyon also presented the bell which is still in use today. On Sunday Aug. 6, 1854 the church was dedicated in the presence of 200 people. A sermon was preached by Dr. Brainerd who church gave the 3 pulpit chairs and the marble top communion table, the silver communion service and the windows on either side of the chancel. These same windows are in the present church. During the winter of 1892-93 plans were drawn for a church in the heart of the village to seat 250 people and not to cost over $6000.00 The cornerstone was laid on Aug. 15, 1893 in the presence of 250 people. In Nov. 1912 GHP Gould installed electricity as a gift to the church. A parish house which was donated by GHP Gould was erected at the rear of the church. A new organ was donated by Mrs. H P Gould in 1956 in memory of her husband Harry P. Gould and 2 sons Gordon and Henry.
