Falls and Bridge Information |
 |
 |
If Lyons Falls is famous for anything, it's the Falls and the 3-Way Bridge.
The Falls has been used to produce power for several business over the years. From saw mills to paper mills and electricity for the whole village. The height and width of the falls has changed over the years and at present the height is around 89 feet.
The 3-Way Bridge put Lyons Falls on the map. The bridge began as a wooden structure, built in 1849, conecting the Greig Road, Laura Steet and Franklin Street and was refered to as The White Bridge. A woman in town walked over the bridge as it was being built and got here feet wet. In 1916 the bridge was refurbished and turned into a steel structure.
It was featured in Ripley's Believe It Or Not as being the only 3-Way Bridge in the United States - there was also one in Japan.
The bridge was torn down in 1965 and separate bridges were built over the Black River and Moose River.
