The crosscurrents off Newfoundland's Grand Banks support a rich and diverse ecosystem of krill, fish, seabirds, whales, seals, and ultimately human beings. The crosscurrents of human history have given the region a rich, unique and distinctive culture.  People and place are intertwined in the Atlantic region, as inseparable as words and music. This album explores this rich musical landscape, examining a region that is one of many worldwide today at the crossroads of cultural and natural preservation.

Lynn Noel: lead and harmony vocals
Ken Mattsson: lead and harmony vocals

Lynn and Ken sing with depth, power, and passionate attention to the spirit in the song. As experienced dancers of contra, English country, and Scandinavian gammaldans, their duo sound can be described as "ballroom dancing for the voice." As respected local song leaders, and as active members of First Parish Cambridge Unitarian Universalist, their spirited leadership inspires audiences to raise their voices in "Power Harmonies" from sacred hymns and chants to rousing pub songs. Their instrumental work brings out the contrasting voices in the dulcimer family with driving contra dance music and lyrical ballaid airs. As solo perfomers and in ensemble, Lynn and Ken make their strings ring with dancing song.
