The CEAC is an external advisory board for Dow's senior management.  Consisting of ten global opinion and thought leaders, the Council provides independent, strategic advice on social and environmental issues.  Members have also provided feedback on Dow's Global Public Report (see 2003 for an example of my uncensored comments).

Geloofwaardige Globalisering!
A national conference on local church responses to globalization, organized by the Oikos Foundation  (Utrecht, November 18, 2008).  The conference was the culmination of a multi-year program on economics and faith, which the Oikos Foundation carried out in cooperation with Kerk in Actie and DISK, with funding from Kerk en Wereld.

Economie in Dienst van de Schepping A national conference on globalization and Christian social ethics, organized by the Oikos Foundation and the Department of Religious Studies of the Radboud University (Nijmegen, 17 March 2008).  The conference, attended by 160 theologians and pastors, was part of a multi-year program on economics and faith, which the Oikos Foundation carried out in cooperation with Kerk in Actie and DISK, with funding from Kerk en Wereld.

'Transforming Development: Exploring Approaches to Development from Religious Perspectives' (download the report). An international conference on the role of religion in development (Soesterberg, 15-17 October 2007).  The conference, attended by 99 academics and development workers from Hindu, Muslim, and Christian NGOs, was organized by the Knowledge Centre Religion and Development, with funding from ICCO and Cordaid.

Professional Service

Ethics and Sustainability Dialogue Group: Participant and Steering Committee Member (1998-2005).
The ESDG was a semi-annual stakeholder dialogue between public affairs leaders in the American chlorine industry (represented by the Chlorine Chemistry Council) and environmental ethicists.  Topics covered: EH&S and sustainability goals and metrics, product substitution (pesticides/herbicides, PVC), end-of-life issues (water disinfection by-products, dioxins and furans), and the validity of the precautionary principle and biomonitoring studies.
