About Bradley University Model United Nations

This Conference will be hosted by Bradley University's International Affairs Organization. The conference will take place over a period of four days (Thursday, February 26 – Sunday, March 1). There will be a variety of committees and topics at the conference. Committees will range from General Assembly bodies to Regional Bodies to the Security Council. The General Assembly committees will actually participate in a combined committee session where the three General Assembly bodies will be working together. This is something that will be offered to give delegates more of an actual feel for the United Nations.

Bradley University is a privately endowed, coeducational institution. It was founded by Lydia Moss Bradley in memorial to her children and husband. The University offers more than 100 programs among five different colleges. The beautifal 85 acre campus provides a great learning environment for its 5,315 undergraduate students. The University is surrounded by the vibrant Peoria community. Peoria is the economic, medical, and cultural headquarters in central Illinois, providing students with many opportunities.

Bradley's Institute of International Studies was created in 1958 at the suggestion of then-Secretary of State. It is one of few self-contained international studies programs. Small class sizes allow for personal attention from the Institute's accomplished professors and provides for a close-knit community among IS students.

The Institute supports Bradley's International Affairs Organization. The group's goal is to open the eyes of students and members of the Peoria community to international issues. The organization presents distinguished speakers, hosts annual forums, and meets informally to disscuss international events. Branching from this organization is the Bradley University Model UN Club. BUMUN is focusing its efforts this year on hosting a Model UN Conference for highschoolers throughout the midwest.
