First Person Or Third Person?

The Marathon series is an example of the first-person-shooter, real-time-3D genre of games. It is called "first-person", because one takes the viewpoint of one's player character in the game.

If Marathon took the third-person viewpoint, which is best-known from the Tomb Raider series, it would look something like this:

What you see in front of you is your player character, a Mjolnir military Mark IV cyborg marine. For more on that identification, see Marathon's Story Page, under the section "Facts and Puzzling Things about ... You".

A second-person viewpoint would be from the point of view of those Pfhor that you and those Tinas are shooting (that's my female-Bob patch there). A fourth-person viewpoint would be spectator mode, which is offered in some more advanced games, but not Marathon.
