Here are the Marathon add-ons I've prepared so far:

Nomad S'pht

This patch turns the S'pht into what I call my "Nomad S'pht"; It was inspired by the Star Trek: The Original Series episode "The Changeling", which contained a berserking space probe called Nomad; however, the appearance was changed to make it closer to that of the original S'pht, color-coding and all. In addition, it was made to be completely compatible with existing physics models, which specify how big the character is and where it shoots from. Here's what a Nomad S'pht looks like:

Female Bobs

This patch turns the Bobs into female Bobs, whom I have named "Tina", because this is a nice, short, snappy name like "Bob" itself. However, instead of creating some childish bimbos, as had too often been done, I decided to create in the style of the original Marathon 2 "Bobs", complete with appropriate colors. I have also created a sounds patch, which I did by speeding up Doug Zartman's voice, since I have not been able to recruit a female volunteer for this task. The sounds patch is two patches, one for the plain Bobs, and one for the Marathon Infinity VacBobs, so one can create a mixed-sex ensemble by applying only one of them. This one was made to be completely compatible with existing physics models, which specify how big the character is and where it shoots from. Here's what a Tina looks like:

Lh'owon Landscapes

This patch replaces the "Lh'owon Day" and "Lh'owon Night" landscapes in Marathon 2/oo with some landscapes of my own devising, which I had created because I thought that both the M2 and the Moo versions look rather cheesy. This is my first serious project with Bryce 3D, from MetaCreations, and it's rather simple; it does not have such things as buildings or moons. I may eventually replace the Marathon 2/oo "Moon" landscape, but I want to put some more stuff in it.

Note about this preview that these are the complete images; in practice, one will see only a small segment of it at a time.

Marathon Map Analyzer

This utility was inspired by Kirill Levchenko's utility MapInfo, but it has several improvements. These include processing of all the map files in a folder (this has been successfully tested on the Marathon Trilogy Map Collection CD-ROM), and improved statistics such as statistics on map topology (how many connected pieces of map, and how connected is each piece), and various correlations (landscape and wall textures, abundances of various classes of characters).

Marathon Map Exporter

This utility exports Marathon maps as 3D models in any of several formats: Rotater wireframes, AutoCad DXF, Wavefront OBJ, Lightwave Object, QuickDraw 3D metafiles. If one has QuickDraw 3D installed, one can become a MacOS SimpleText vidmaster. It should also be useful in porting Marathon maps to game engines that can do true 3D; this enables one to use Marathon maps as starting points, thus avoiding having to redo a map from scratch.

Marathon Map Viewer

One can view and move through Marathon maps in real time with this, complete with wall textures, lighting, and liquids. It supports the entire Marathon series, and it will even show 5D space. It uses OpenGL, and its rendering is best done on a 3D-accelerator card (it works very well with an ATI Rage Orion card).

Shapes Utilities

Here are two utilities for Marathon shapes files. The 12oo Mover creates a Marathon Infinity shapes file from a Marathon 1 one, and the 1-10 Twiddler can change sequence types from 1 (animated) to 10 (non-animated) and back.

My Marathon Maps

This is a set of maps I've created for Marathon Infinity with the help of Forge, Hex!, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe SuperPaint (the latter two for artwork), as well as some pictures I did some processing of.

It has three levels:

There's other stuff I'm working on, when I finish it, I'll describe it or put it here also.
