DVDs eh! You can't burn them to keep warm without dying from asphyxiation, but they do keep me entertained and
out of trouble, which is a good thing.
You can do one of two things here. Check my DVD collection for discs you want to borrow
or you can find out more about ordering DVDs on-line. If the latter, then read the following:
- Quick links
- Shopping caveats
- DVD Fora
- DVD Price Comparison sites
- DVD Shops
- Mac DVD libraries
So, in order to help you non-dvd professionals out there, here are some useful links to help you through the morass of
choice. Thus, you have a load of links below. However, of them, I would say if you want a quick list, the key sites would
be:
- CD Wow - limited choice, but often the cheapest
- Ezy DVD - very helpful and adaptable Aussie site
- Futureent - fast, decent prices for most discs
- Play - good all-rounder, not always cheapest
When buying discs I have found that it is really useful to have sites that respond to your emails (questions) quickly.
Some sites are very good at this (see below) as are the four sites above. Further, when importing discs, be aware that
there are limitations. Not all packages get 'caught' but when they do, you will pay duty (3.5%) + VAT (17.5%) + courier
charge (e.g. Royal Mail - £4). So whilst you save some money having more than 2 discs posted together, be aware of the
risks.
Final thing to be aware of is, if you are picky about film properties like me, double check that your disc has the
aspect ratio you want, DTS if required, and the actual film cut. Happy shopping.

Mac DVD software (library databases)
I have mostly provided these links as I often get asked about a list of DVD sites from which people may be able to buy stuff,
so, whoopee, hope this helps, and at the same time, save me a little effort. If you come across a site that offers either value
for money, great sales, speedtastic delivery, or access to unusal / rare discs, then please
let me know and I can check it out and maybe even (perish the thought) use it.
