Frequently Asked Questions
Something isn't working properly.
Try downloading the latest version of Location X before you let us know about something that doesn't work. If someone else has encountered the same issue, chances are we've posted a fix in our latest version.

My location list is long. Is there any way for me to better view all my locations?
In Location X 1.1 and later, the location list window is resizable.

Why do I have to enter my password every time I switch locations? I'm just switching my default printer or my network connections, which I can do normally without entering my password.
Several operations that Location X performs require administrative privileges. Changing network settings or the default printer is an example. Location X will prompt you for an administrative password when you switch to a location that has a plug-in enabled that performs an action requiring administrative privileges. The Location X application and Location X Menu do not share passwords, so each may ask you for your password separately. If you have entered your password once in the Location X application, it does not prompt you for your password again as long as the application remains open. Similarly, Location X Menu only asks for your password at most once per login session.

You are able to change your default printer in the Print Center application and your Network settings via the Apple menu or System Preferences application because these are both operating system functions. The operating system is able to obtain authentication to run these processes and perform these operations because you have already logged in to your computer with an administrative password. Third-party applications unfortunately do not enjoy this convenience and must ask for an administrative password before they perform privileged actions.

Since upgrading from Mac OS 10.X.Y to Mac OS 10.X.Z, Location X shows an error warning me that my "System Version Not Recommended". What does that mean?
This warning is intended to alert you to the possibility that in 10.X.Z some things may have changed that could cause Location X to work improperly. Generally an upgrade from 10.X.Y to 10.X.Z does not cause any problems but you should always check our website to be sure. Major system version changes (from 10.X.Y to 10.Z) could cause Location X components to stop working correectly -- check our website for a compatibility notice when upgrading to a new major OS version.
