Ed Fruh

Ed Fruh is a resident of Tinley Park, Illinois and has been building
Riverview models since he retired in 1993. His fondness for this amusement park launched this unique model making hobby in his retirement.

Starting with Aladdin's Castle, Ed found in creating this H. O. scale rendition, that everyone who saw Aladdin rediscovered warm memories of the fun times at the park. To date, Ed has created 21 models of some of his favorite rides and attractions that were once a part of Riverview. Each one rekindles more memories from the past.

Ed's models have been displayed at various art centers and libraries. They have been highlighted in a segment on "Wild Chicago" on Channel 11, WTTW . Appearing in a 30 minute program, Chicago Stories on Chicago Cable channel 25. “Return To Riverview” Most recently, Channel 2 News in a segment on interesting people in Chicago.

Ed has been a guest on WGN radio, talking about his models. They have also been featured in several local newspaper articles.

Models of the Blue Streak, Water Bug, and the Rotor have joined the other models in remembering Riverview. Recently added, the Greyhound and the Boomerang.

Also in Ed's collection is a model of the Chicago Surface Line red street car which took us to our favorite fun place. It is stopped in front of the main gate with the kids ready to enjoy a day at Riverview.

Riverview closed forever in the fall of 1967 leaving an emptiness in our lives. With the models, perhaps you too can relive, if only in a memory, those fun times we all had at Riverview
