Thanksgiving walk in Woodward Woods
 
November 27, 2003, Thanksgiving Day. A beautiful day for a walk in Woodward Woods.

haircap moss grows in disturbed areas in woods and at bog edges.
mixed forest in the late fall.
recently fallen tree along the path - maybe a result of rain and wind.

spotted wintergreen among oak leaves and white pine needles on the forest floor

white pine pinecone, pine needles and moss
pinecone leftovers after someone's meal
the introduced catbrier or greenbrier has lost its leaves but not its thorns
leafless deciduous trees against the sky with evergreens in the background
tupelo is a part of the understory.

looking at the swamp near the river with red osier growing in thickets
