DescriptionSkookumchuck Island sits in the hear of the Skookumchuck Rapids. This body of water boasts the fastests currents in the world - up to a measley 20 something knotts! Dive the Island on a slack tide. Shallow walls and current swept rocks surround the island. LocationGPS Coordinates:N 49° 43.459' W 124° 52.831' From Seattle, take I-5 North. This was kinda like diving Agates Pass, but not as fun. I guess the "cool" sites were right up in the Skookumchuck Rapids, but the currents would not permit us to dive that site on this day. We went through the rapids (on boat) on only a 12 knott flood!!!!! But, I give this site one Thumb Down on the Parker Scale. Pretty uneventful. |
