Description

The Sechelt Peninsula is the part of Canada that includes the Sunshine Coast and Agamemnon Channel. I've always stayed at "Lowes Resort", out of Madeira Park and have always been diving with Sunshine Coast Tours.

This is some of the best diving one can find in lower Canada. It's certainly not of the caliber of Port Hardy but it is still great diving.

These are the dive sites that Parker visited:

Take I-5 north to the last exit before the Canadian border (Exit #275). Cross the border and continue north on Highway 15 to Route 1. Go west on Route 1 until it ends at the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal. Get on the ferry to the Sunshine Coast (Langdale). It should take you about 2 hours to get to the border, another 30 minutes to get to Route 1, another 30 minutes to reach Horseshoe Bay (depending on traffic). When you get off the ferry, follow Route 101 north to Sechelt and Powell River. When you reach Madeira Park (about 30 minutes from Sechelt), look for the signs for a left turn to Lowe's Resort. Turn left off the highway, then take another left into the resort.

Comments

I've done the Turkey Weekend Sechelt trip twice now. I had a great time on both trips. I would recommend it to anyone.

Charters

I have only been on the Sunshine Coast Tours charters, operated by Bryce Christie. He's a heck of a nice guy and runs an outstanding operation. Bryce is the man!
