DescriptionThe Puget Sound is the large body of water that extends north of Seattle towards the San Juan Islands, all the way South to Olympia. Massive water turn over rates and and high abundance of nutrients in the water result in year around "poor" visibility, high diurnal currents, yet yields an abundance of fish and invertebrate life. Puget Sound offers a plethora of dive sites that can be done either by shore access or by boat. Although you will not see the quantity of micro life such as in Port Hardy, or you won't see the prestine sites of Barkley Sound, or get the good visibility of the Sunshine Coast, you will find a little of each in the Puget Sound. Since there are so many dive sites for the Puget Sound, I created a North Puget Sound and South Puget Sound Dive Site Review Page!
Puget Sound Tidal InformationThe Puget Sound features diurnal tides. It's very important that you dive most of these sites on slack. Links to Tidal Current (for calculating slack water) Information for: LocationThe Puget Sound is located in the Northwest of Washington State and is the main body of water governing Washington's largest city, Seattle. Find Seattle and you'll find the Puget Sound. Look me up and maybe we'll go for a dive!
Puget Sound ChartersThe overall best way to get in some great Puget Sound diving is to take one of the local area charters. |
