Description

BA Beachis located about 30 miles to the west of Salt Creek State Park. It's a pretty typical Straights dive. It's turn out #1, on some windy road past Sekiu. The main attraction at this site are the many grooves and rocks that form many houses for various sea critters.

Gear up at your vehicle and enter the water. Swim out beyond the in-shore kelp bed and head East for a good 200-300 yards. Drop down and explore the wonders of this kelp bed.

The Old Wise Ones claim that 4 divers, 2 male and 2 female, dove this site one fine day. In the sit interval, the males traveled East and the females went West. The males got the great idea to "BA" the females. Down went the short and up with the white butts. Legends have it that the two females responded with a classic retalitory strike of bare-chesting the two males. Thus, for ever now renaming this site to BA Beach.

Comments

The area around Sekiu is fairly flat, with the bottom composed of large rock structures and large fissures in the rocks. If you spend the time peeking amongst the rocks, you will be treated with an enormous amount of life, including lingcod, rockfish, cabezons, shrimp, octopus, wolf eels, lots of urchins, and various other invertebrates. I give this site a one Thumb Up on the Parker Scale.
