Trip #3: Fort Washakie
Middle School and Wyoming Indian School
During Spring Break, 4 undergraduate
students at Colorado State University went with Brian Jones
of the Little Shop of Physics to Ethete, Wyoming, for a
series of school programs at Fort Washakie Middle School
and Wyoming Indian School. We also did a series of
mini-workshops with teachers visiting the Little Shop.
We presented programs to well nearly 1000 K-12 students, of
all ages... It made for an action-packed few days! The
schools took special advantage of the great group of
undergraduates on the trip, who spoke to the students we
visited about college and careers. Since our visit, we have
had several inquiries from teachers and advisors. Great!
This was also a continuation of our partnership with
Colorado State University's Native American Student
Services office. The folks in the office had wanted to have
some contacts in this area, and, with Little Shop's help,
now they do. Teachers and students at all of the schools
were very appreciative, and all wanted to know when we
would be coming back. This was the start of a relationship
with a group of schools that we hope to continue for years
to come.

All of this would not have been possible without the
WYP 2005 grant, a point we were sure
everyone knew!
