Wed - July 6, 2005Online clippageReaders of this blog, or my regular emails,
won't find this
essay new, but it's now new to the Matthews House online
project. Check it out during the month of July.

2005
I know it's been slim pickins' for fresh content around here lately, but fact is, I been busy. Some of those projects are coming to fruition, so I can share a bit (at last). First off, last Thursday I returned to my photobug days shooting a benefit concert for Little Kids Rock, a music-for-kids non-profit. And speaking of photographs, an old paper of mine that does just that is included among this month's articles at The Matthew's House Project. Finally, issue 2.2 of the New Pantagruel is now online — plenty reading to while away many quiet hours at work or elsewhere! No original content from me yet, but a couple book reviews are forthcoming later this year. in detail: the whole story | remark! as quoted: Sat - March 12, 2005In briefFirst off, a random site-hit trivia bit I
found amusing.
Apparently I offer moral guidance In contrast to the many bra-size related hits I often get on this site, some people come here seeking answers to their spiritual or moral dilemmas. Two searches from Saturday: what it means to walk with god infidelity christian morality husband ... All this nicely juxtaposed, of course, with "ingredients of a fussy navel drink." He/she musta been a bit fuzzy on the spelling skills. in detail: the whole story | remark! as quoted: Mon - March 7, 2005Site revisionsShe who has too much time ... edits

in detail: the whole story | remark! as quoted: Sat - February 5, 2005Tue - November 2, 2004Two thingsFirst of all, faith in the blogosphere proved misguided in
that I am writing this from chilly New York. Ah well. It's never the strength of
your faith that determines, after all, but the object in which your faith is
placed.
in detail: the whole story | remark! as quoted: Fri - October 29, 2004... Or notThose of you who regularly read this may
have followed this week's latest development on the job front: a highly touted
12-day work assignment that would have taken me through Nov.
12.
I say "would" because, rather unexpectedly, I was sent home two hours into my second day this morning. Not because of anything that I'd done, but because the firm had realized they could cover in my friend's absence without a temp. in detail: the whole story | remark! as quoted: Mon - October 25, 200412-day bookingYup, I've got more work. In addition to a
catering gig over the weekend that helped tide me over until unemployment checks
resume disbursement, I now have a two-week-plus temp assignment starting
Thursday (two days of training with the friend who's going on vacation to get
married).
As I've been saying to many friends lately, I truly am amazed at the graciousness of God's provision to me during this nearly six-month season of unemployment. in detail: the whole story | remark! as quoted: Thu - October 21, 2004Houston, we have incomeCollected the check from That Company today,
and successfully cashed it at my bank. Here's hoping they release cash deposits
sooner than checks ... Oh well. The landlord has been gracious enough
anyway.
in detail: the whole story | remark! as quoted: Fri - October 1, 2004Back on display![]() After nearly three years in repose, my pictures are back in action — or will be, very soon. in detail: the whole story | remark! as quoted: Tue - September 21, 2004More on possible workAbout a week ago, I reported an email from That Company, the employer I was
pining over for much of the summer ("all my eggs in one basket" ... etc.). The
message wasn't very detailed, but mentioned possibility of a "small project" for
me to work on.
This afternoon I got more details. It was a brief conversation, following nominal emails last week (result: I was asked to call this week). But the big news is: tomorrow I have a 10:30 a.m. appointment in their offices that will precede an 11 a.m. conference call it sounds like I will sit in on. Christi puts on swank "consultant" hat. in detail: the whole story | remark! as quoted: Mon - September 20, 2004Fri - September 17, 2004Wanna gmail account?I posted this on my other blog, but thought
I'd mention it here as well. I’ve got six, count ’em,
six
invitations for a gmail account smokin’ away in a certain
email account of mine. If you’ve been lusting after this allegedly
“exclusive” address, here’s your chance.
in detail: the whole story | remark! as quoted: Site trafficSo, I've been getting some really weird
Google hits lately. Among my
faves:
"pier 57 and colostomy" (people actually search for such things?!) "photo shoulder bag lots of political pins" (bet Google referred 'em to this entry) And last but not least... in detail: the whole story | remark! as quoted: Mon - September 13, 2004some freelance work?Had quite a nice surprise just now, and
quite a surprise at that.
Some of you will recall that I spent much of the summer hoping for a job at That Company, a small consulting firm that specializes in healthcare work related to infectious diseases. Late July, those dreams were deflated with news that oh, by the way, they'd actually hired two people as associates and might hire another in September, but couldn't say. in detail: the whole story | remark! as quoted: |
