Awwww. Dead Serious wrote such a nice post about notes from the Navel! Good stuff on his, too, so I'm returning the favor as only a good blogger can by adding him to the sidebar.

As for the rest of my RNC coverage ... I've decided to buck the live-blogging trend (obviously) and wait a few more days to let it all sink in. Besides, as I wrote in my (gasp, paper) journal today, "Politics is a deadening, exhausting matter — perhaps because of the scale at which it requires to consider the world." That, or because party conventions are so rah-rah-rah as to verge on propaganda. Sigh.

As I recently learned that Flannery O'Connor said, "I seldom know in any given circumstance whether the Lord is giving me a reward or a punishment." (This by way of David Dark's fascinating pop-cultural analysis, Everyday Apocalypse; thanks to Ben Patterson for introducing me to it.)
