... Or not

Those of you who regularly read this may have followed this week's latest development on the job front: a highly touted 12-day work assignment that would have taken me through Nov. 12.

I say "would" because, rather unexpectedly, I was sent home two hours into my second day this morning. Not because of anything that I'd done, but because the firm had realized they could cover in my friend's absence without a temp.

I'll get paid for the 10 total hours I worked, but otherwise it's back to claiming unemployment (for however many few weeks I have left), preparing for the month-long photography show that goes up Sunday ... and most importantly finishing my teaching application.

Once I've actually mailed off the six-part package (!!!) to the folks at a certain California community college (yes, that would be in the "Left Coast" as some here are fond of saying ;)), those on my regular-update email list can probably expect some sort of update on the job search.

Until then ... back to final edits.
