A midnight thief of flowers

Plucked from the local community garden.

And a somewhat related thought from a not-too-long-ago, late-night "epiphany" of sorts:

As I stood there in tank top and drawers, it came to me somehow that certain flowers bloom and fade unseen by anyone except their maker. But this is not a waste, for it is for His pleasure they are ultimately created. And so, the corollary went, if I should also die "unseen" and unenjoyed (by a husband), it is OK. It is for God's good pleasure I was ultimately created — and not man's. Not a man's. Even if I die never married, my life and beauty will not have been wasted because God saw and was pleased with His creation.

Hard thoughts to press into one's short-sighted, love-grubbing heart.
