nyj49: I'll be back!

Remarkable but true: I have secured a ticket for the fifth and final session of the RNC. This means I will have attended the entire convention, though not the entirety of each session. When I first found out, I was tempted to modify the words of that Fiddler on the Roof song: "Wonder of wonders, miracle of miracles, I got a ticket for tonight!"

Of course I have a bit of trepidation knowing the likely security risk tonight, but I'm also very excited. Just now I called my friend from Arizona to let him know I'd gotten the seat, and made some quip about "if we survive tonight." "Oh, I think we will," he replied. Something about hearing him say that reassured me.

Doug is such a good man, and has been so kind to me this week. In fact, it was his introduction to a fellow New Yorker named Joe (another Brooklynite, actually) that scored me a ticket to last night's Pataki party where I scored a PBA card from two cops I met, and was supposedly among such notable (but unseen-by-me) guests as Pataki himself and the Bush twins.

Have to get ready to claim my ticket in a bit, so will write up further thoughts after tomorrow's job interview.
