Learning from Mistakes

Sonny & the BCMA are learning daily from their mistakes. Think of a time when you have had to adapt, change or learn from a mistake. Share a brief description of the situation and what you learned.

Student Responses:
Alex Writes: Some mistakes I have made have been missing math problems on a test because I wasn't paying attention to the paper. I learned that I have to concentrate on the problems, not a silly idea that I am thinking. I have to study math problems at home to get better at them. I also have to pay attention to the teacher during the day so I know what to do on a test.

Another mistake I have made has been messing up on my speaking lines in a play that we are doing. I learned to practice my lines with my parents at home and to focus on my lines that I have to say. I need to listen to the instructor so that they can help me with my lines or for me to know what they want me to do.

Anne Writes: A mistake that I have learned from was when I forgot my solo, but it taught me that the more I practice my solo, the better I will know it!

Mistakes

There's something about mistakes that makes me perfect,
I don't know.
Maybe:
It's when I blush and stumble over a word
I know the audience knows I made a mistake.
Or do they?
Maybe:
It's when I'm furtive around Mom,
I know she knows I blew up her pot. She knows I made a mistake.
Or does she?
Maybe:
It's when my rocket blows up,
Quentin knows the machinists made a mistake.
Or was it us?
Maybe:
It's when I get tears in front of Dad,
He knows his mistake, his own personal error.
Or does he?
There's something about mistakes that makes me perfect,
I don't know.
